Jerry Ballenger

For over 45 years, Jerry Ballenger made a lasting impact on the media industry through entrepreneurial leadership and unwavering innovation. He was the founder and CEO of multiple companies that transformed newspaper distribution, including American Newspaper Solutions, LLC; CarrierTrack® Technologies, LLC; ANS Delivery, LLC; and Ballenger Distribution Solutions, LLC. His work helped newspapers across the country modernize operations and maintain strong community connections in a shifting media landscape.

Ballenger’s career was defined by forward-thinking solutions. Through ANS, he led efforts to develop market-leading distribution and GPS tracking systems. His desire to deliver real-time virtual audits and actionable data helped newspapers offer live, turn-by-turn delivery directions and responsive customer service alerts.

Prior to founding ANS, Ballenger built a Midwest newspaper network spanning 130 daily and weekly publications. He also served as vice president and general manager of a 36-paper chain in Michigan, where he helped strengthen local journalism across the state.

A graduate of Indiana State University with a degree in business administration and accounting, Ballenger combined technical insight with a hands-on understanding of the field. His work empowered media companies to expand offerings, achieve market dominance and implement custom-built technology solutions for their print operations.

In the weeks leading up to his passing, Jerry remained deeply committed to advancing the print operations sector. He had just partnered with E&P Magazine through his companies, American Newspaper Solutions and CarrierTrack® Technologies, to sponsor the 2025 Operations All Star Awards.
